- Returnable Transport Packaging (RTP) is a special type of stock that handles reusable packaging materials,
- Generally some of the materials it is very difficult to send with out packaging materials, For these materials Vendor will send materials with packaging or some container. Example : Oxygen Cylinder, Gas cylinder, Water cans, milk with container, oil with container.
- But these materials are very expensive. So vendor will ask return these material once you utilize the material. These process generally called as a Returnable Transport Packaging
- RTP stocks from vendors are externally owned and are not valuated.
- RTP stock is always unrestricted-use stock. The stock can neither be in quality inspection nor blocked.
- Depending on the system configuration, returnable transport packaging stock can also be negative. Negative stocks occur when you return an RTP quantity to the vendor before you have entered the goods receipt in the system (i.e. the goods issue is posted before the goods receipt).
- Pre-requisites:
- The Packaging Material Type should be of LEIH.
- Only Quantity Update has to be done for the Material Type “LEIH” against the Valuation Area
Process steps
- Create a standard material – Create a standard material type material by using t-code MM01

- Create a returnable transport packaging material ( MM01)

- Create a purchase info record (ME11) – Create a standard purchase info .

- Create Purchase order (ME21N)

- Create good receipt ( MIGO)– Create GR with MIGO and movement type 101 and add non ordered item from item overview tab and add the returnable material

- Stock overview using t-code MMBE – Here we can see the Packaging Material Stock is available in the Unrestricted use

- Create good receipt ( MIGO) – Once the standard material is consumed fully create goods receipt without purchase order to return the packaging material

- Stock overview using t-code MMBE – So we had a total of 5 packaging material and out of those 3 have been returned back to the vendor . so we will be remaining with 2 more .

- Post invoice verification (MIRO) –

- Accounting Entries during good receipt

- Accounting Entries during invoice verification
